Best Of 2010.

This post would have never happened if not for this past torturous Sunday afternoon when I decided to sit down and map out some sort of plan of action for 2011. Doubt is my demon. I often think that I do not have what it takes to achieve all that I want to achieve. I discovered that when moments like this come there is nothing better than putting things into retrospective. This is exactly what I did and it turns out - 2010 was an amazing year!
With in a span of this year I have managed to open my own Atelier. Renovate completely destroyed space and transform it into Hat Heaven. :-)
Anya Caliendo. Couture Millinery: "Renata" Hat.
It was a difficult transition considering the fact that I had to fight against both: terrible for this kind of ventures global economy and my very stubborn accountant. Lesson learned? - sometimes following you heart is better than following your fear.
I got to do an amazing trunk show at Henry Bendel. I had so much fun doing it!
Anya Caliendo.Couture Millinery "The Secret Lives Of Dolls." 2010
I have designed and created my third, very technically challenging , Collection "The secret Lives Of Dolls". Not only that, but I got to style and direct the photo shoot of the editorial for my Atelier.
I brought my new Collection to Paris and presented it during the Paris Fashion Week in October  of 2010. Fantastic experience. I still have butterflies in my stomach when I think of it. :-)))
What even more mind blowing is the fact that Paris loved my hats!:-)))
I have made a hat for my very first Vogue. Do you see? - I am still doing my happy dance! I have also made several more fantastic editorials in numerous Fashion Magazines and Blogs all over the world. :-)  I received an invitation to teach my very first millinery course.(I will tell you more about it later.)
And fabulous "La Parisienne" still holds number 1 bestseller place in my Atelier. :-))). So, I suppose, I did OK in 2010 and it means I now have enough faith in myself to do even better in 2011. I have so many things I want to accomplish, so many ideas, projects, collaborations, so many new hats to design! :-))) I will keep it a secret for now, I have always been a little bit superstitious. :-) I promise to share everything with you when the time comes.
Anya Caliendo Couture Millinery. "Moulin Rouge" Hat.
What even more amazing is that I got to have all of you in my life! I had a privilege to meet fantastic, talented, funny, smart people  whose support, opinion, comments and presence means a world to me. I hope to continue my friendship with you in 2011. I hope that this year will be even better than 2010!:-)

Milaya Anechka, I can't believe it how you can still have any doubts about yourself!!! Silly wonderful lovely sweet talented girl you are! I think your 2010 wasn't just OK, but fantastic and brilliant and you did such a wonderful job, darling. You must be very VERY super proud of yourself. Sending you a big hug! xxx

P.S. And I still adore my "silvery cloud" and dream of Mademoiselle. :) One day, hopefully, I will be able to place an order and have my favourite "girl" here.

And the "Glam forecaster who is slightly slumbering on me" is ready to bet that 2011 will be even better than (an already uber fructiferous) 2010 Chère Anya !!!
ps: This teaching project suits you perfectly, just like an altruistic way to perpetuate an ancestral Art, dedicated to sublimate Femininity far beyond fugitive Fashion Trends . . .

I am often filled with doubts and fears about the future and all that I want to accomplish. It seems when the odds are against you and when all the critics doubt...victory is then the sweetest once accomplished. My father always tells me that the often in life the greatest achievements will not come without the greatest obstacles, sacrifice, and struggles. Eric's professor is now famous here in Italy and his story is very inspiring. He actually is from a poor town in Southern Italy and he wanted to learn his passion so badly that he apprenticed for sandwiches in his early days to the industry.

I am encouraged by this, and I am also encouraged and completely inspired by you. (I think I tell you this every day? :)) I am so impressed and so proud at all you accomplished in your life, and especially here in 2010!! You overcame the odds and have accomplished so many things that most only DREAM of doing! I must say that I'm so excited in particular about your feature in Vogue...truly wonderful.

Congrats Anya, you deserve all of your success and I'm excited to see all that you will accomplish in 2011....wishing you an even more spectacular year.

Anechka, a super quick note. :) Look what I have now http://fashionedbylove.blogspot.com/

I know, I know, I know, it's yet another blog, but this time it's going to be really ME and not just about fashion. Hope you like it. :)

I am planning to close my fashiontitbits.wordpress.com blog eventually and keep original FashionTitbits and the new baby, plus, of course, the nutrition one.

Anyway... I just wanted to let you know. If you have time to have a look and tell me what you think, it would be great. :)

Lots of love and kisses

Hi love. Just reading your post made me fill with joy for you. What a fabulous rundown of accomplishments for one year!! I'm so happy for you that you have had so much success so far and more doors and more doors will be opening in 2011 for you, I'm sure! I just love the photo of your Atelier window with its golden light (golden light in a store window always makes me sign), the beautiful script and the glamorous little "Open" sign! And to have a trunk show at Henry Bendel ... one of my fun and favorite accessory stores! Had to have been so fun. I'm blowing you a kiss from my open hand filled with a pile of sparkly wishes for 2011 ... may you achieve so much success that you are amazed and have so much fun doing it that you feel you've landed on a cloud! Happy January, darling girl.

Dearest Anja,
Congradulations to a spectacular year 2010 and my blessing to you for continued success and beyond...
And when fear (a natural corse of personal evolution) sticks his little ugly head-out "just do it anyway"! I hope you will be able to follow through with your "invite
to teach" millinery...Teaching and sharing knowlege adds an "human touch" to what we know and do best. I am living the my teaching experience now and I would not exchange the beautiful emotions for nothing in the world, because the teacher learns also...
Have a nice day. I remain your friend,
Kirsten
PS. Thank you for comments, Anya
