Country Dreams.

With so many rainy days this Spring here in New York, I am looking forward to a little bit of Summer in the country side where we just purchased little Summer House. Looking through my favorite country Vogue editorials it is hard not get inspired by the pallet of golden browns, wine reds, greens and cream whites.
I have created this little straw boater with small roses and French veil to catch the colors of the pallet that whisper "country" to me.
By the way, plain little straw hats were always my favorites in the summer. What can be a better hat to wear for a great picnic in the country with your friends and a bottle of great Bordeaux?
My beautiful flowers in my garden will soon be blooming: my rose bushes, peonies, irises - constant reminder to me that there is no greater master and artist than Nature itself.
Last Tuesday I spent the entire day in the fabric store looking for a very specific shade of iris-blue - no luck. :-)
The hat you see below was created specifically for Vogue Mexico. They requested country inspired hats in Fall pallet and one of the hats I have made for them was this. :-)
Always a great pleasure to work with long gone shapes.:-) Makes you feel a bit like a time traveller.
I hope you will have fantastic weekend. I am planning to spend it in my garden, around the house and away from my hats. :-) Don't forget that you still have a chance to enter "Prada Bag Give Away". All you need to do is to read last Tuesday's post.

Congratulations on your summer house purchase! I can see many lazy summer afternoons there. Having grown up in country Australia I really appreciate the country. BAck home the colours and the textures (almost brutal at times) are quite beautiful! Have a wonderful weekend!

Anya, there is something about the countryside that sings to my heart. I adore the feeling of calm, the colours of beauty, the Fall-like inspiration, the open fields or hills, the fences and horses.... and I feel that both of these gorgeous hats have captured all of these things, and symbolise every feeling in the country... and you have captured them in the most artistic and stunning way. I'm mesmerised, Anya! I am convinced you can capture anything or any feeling and make it into a gorgeous work of art! The straw boater is so gorgeous...the soft look to the roses and the color pallet are beyond stunning. I feel it holds a certain timeless elegance, and I would love to sit among the roses in the country wearing this hat, perhaps sipping afternoon tea.. :):) Your hat for Vogue Mexico is equally incredible, and congrats on the feature in Vogue.... I am still so in awe of all your accomplishments. This hat is utterly chic, and the construction & shape is exquisite. I adore the bow in the back as well. In this hat, I picture myself sipping lemonade on the porch, watching the butterflies and smelling the fresh air. Your hats always take me away and leave me daydreaming...

I am so excited to discover your new summer house in the country, that is so wonderful Anya! What a perfect retreat for some much-needed rest every once in a while. I love all of these beautiful country-side photos, such beautiful colors. I must tell you, that when I think of the country, I think of my visit to Tuscany. Standing in the backyard of our friend's home, and staring out over the vineyards in the Fall. The colours were the most brilliant sun-drenched gold, yellows, oranges, green, & brown. I can almost smell the air right now...

Much Love, and have a wonderful weekend. ♥

WOow this straw boater truly is Stunning Chère Anya, this finery, notably through its so understated chromatic palette, (spontaneously) does not fail to evoke me a kind of next to the hair Fall's allegory . . .
ps: Warm Congrats for this Vogue(alicious) Feature Dear !!!

à Bientôt, Antoine
