The Contemporaries: Renata Litvinova .

There are women of a much different breed. Poets, designers, artists universally has agreed to give them one single name - The Muse. The Muse is always a true force of nature, whose powerful presence you notice immediately. They are capable of creating not only "inspirational current" but the personal style so unique and definitive that it becomes what we call a "Signature Style".
It is always a treat, a delight, a pleasure to be able to see in retrospect the evolution of  any Signature Style of the past. Gala, Marlene Dietrich, Coco Gabrielle Chanel, Valentina - women that created a legend. But even more thrilling to me to see the evolution of style unraveling right before my eyes in contemporaries. One of the great examples of such style evolution is Rusian actress, film producer, director and designer Renata Litvinova.
I never get tired of looking at her images old and new. She is one of the very few people in modern Russia who interests me immensely. I always look forward to her every new project: movie or collection and she never dissapoints. And, so, today, I am starting a new series of posts, dedicated to our contemporaries with Signature Style. I hope you will fall in love with Renata and her personal style inpsired by so many time periods and so many themes.:-)
I am wishing you wonderful week. All this time I hoped for a little snow but it never arrived: it is already almost the end of the Winter and I, once again, find myself  caught of guard by this fact. :-)

"Dreams On The Poppy Field" . The Final Hat Of "Les Enfants Terriblles" Collection.

Today I am sharing with you the last hat created by me for my latest Collection "Les Enfants Terribles". I have named it "Dreams On The Poppy Field" - inspiration for which came from one of my favorite Fairy Tales "Alice In Wonderland". It took me a while to select materials for this one, but the minute I saw this thin, very light Italian silk with poppies printed all over it, I immediately new how the final result will look like. This hat was a showstopper in Paris with so many people wanting to try it on. :-)

It is cold and rainy today in New York, very gray day, perfect for production "in solitary confident" as my assistant Beatricce loves to call my endless moment in production all by myself. I cherish this moments of uninterrupted creative current. So, here it is. I am just about to get myself a great cup of coffee and leave for my Atelier. I am wishing you as much piece and joy as I am feeling right his moment. :-)

As I am writing this, I keep thinking about one single thing: the importance of remaining a child at heart, never loosing that essential innocence and overwhelming joy of being open to the world, pealing away the cynicism and sarcasm that only adults are capable of hiding under the wide umbrella of "life experience". I am still dreaming on the poppy field. How about you? :-)

Hat Action New York Street Style. NYFW 2012.

One of my most favorite things during Fashion Week in New York is to see hats being brought into the spot light by NYFW photographers. Absolutely love the fact that hats were present this NYFW outside of the runways as well . Enjoy the selection of photographs done by Tommy Ton for Style.com and Phil Oh for Vogue.com. Which one is your favorite? :-) For me it is the hat worn by Anna Dello Russo - the girl know how to wear a hat! And also I thought Tavi's sweet floral head band was a beautiful choice. Wishing all a great week ahead!

The Very Chic And Functional Hats Of NYFW Fall-Winter 2012.

Donna Karan Fall Winter 2012
With New York Fashion Week for Fall Winter 2012 being over it is time for another round up of the hats that walked runways of the Lincoln Center. I felt I have been very spoiled by the strong presence of hats. :-) There was very little high fashion  fantasy, for the exception of  hats created by Mr. Jones for Marc Jacobs (they reminded me of Galliano a bit). This time it was all about function. I generally dislike this word. When I hear "it's a functional hat" to me it is almost always "it's a boring hat". Not this time. I really enjoyed a wide range of functional suggestions in terms of hats. You would have to decide which hats you loved the most.
My absolute favorites this time - hats by Donna Karan, Norma Kamali, Ruffian, Skaist-Taylor and delicate headbands presented by Oscar De La Renta. I hope you enjoyed NYFW as much as I did. It was a first time for me being invited to the several shows and I enjoyed it tremendously. New York has what I call a signature energy - it infuses you with new ideas, creative beginnings  and passion to continue with what I chose to be my path. I am now looking forward to seeing what Europe has to say in terms of hats. Have a great weekend everyone!
