Fashion Drawing by Leonid Gurevich for Anya Caliendo Couture Millinery Atelier. The "Claudette" Hat.
It has been an insane several month so far all leading to the day of presentation of my Collection at Lincoln Center this coming Wednesday, September 11th. With only five days left, I can only tell you this: I am waiting to exhale. Between gazillion of e-mail, hundreds of press requests, endless row of meetings, make up trials, planning, production and everything that goes with preparation of the show on the scale of MBFW New York - I don't think I had a minute to simply sit back and think of what is really happening around me. It is difficult to put it into words, but right now I feel happy exhausted. Happy because I realize how far I have come since the day I established my brand. Happy because I have an amazing team of people who believe in me THAT much, starting from the executives at IMG to my phenomenal PR team and my own team of people who will not sleep until the task for the day is accomplished. It is really a privilege to have support and help of everyone who is sharing this very personal journey to my dream with me. As far as feeling "exhausted", I simply discount it - it comes with the territory. :-) In the days to come I will tell you much more about many different things. Today, I decided to start my Blogging year with sharing with you this fabulous fashion drawing created for me by Leonid Gurevich. I loved it so much that it ended up on our official invitation. :-) The hat you see on the sketch is "Claudette" and she is a part of my new Collection "Confessions". You will have a chance to meet her in person really soon.
On September 4th we had a walk through of the venue at Lincoln Center and I managed to take this shot of THE BOX Pavilion where I will be displaying my Collection. Breathtaking space, a perfect background for everything I had in mind. There were so many things to consider: the sound, the light, the layout, backstage layout and many other things. In the middle of the walk through, it suddenly occurred to me that now it is all real. Now I can see it forming right in front of my eyes. It is such a scary feeling. Scary and exhilarating at the same time. I could not stop smiling, we all felt so damn happy. Unexpected surprise: running into Martha Stewart, Nina Garcia, Hamish Bowles, Anna Wintour and Iris Apfel arriving for the Style Awards. :-)
Since the beginning of July, we have been bombarded by the requests from different magazines to provide the designer inspiration for the Collection, color pallets and little teasers to be published in the days leading to MBFW New York. I now understand that this is exactly how preliminary search for trends is conducted, a bit in advance and always with an expectation of all new. Thankfully, I had enough time to play with pallets and swatches while working on "Confessions",so when WWD magazine came knocking I had absolutely no problem telling them that SS 2014 will be all about transparent, brilliant colors, shimmering gold and frosted brights. :-) I will tell you more next Tuesday, the day before the show. For now, I am wishing you great weekend ahead. My team and I are planning to spend it in the Atelier, packing and putting finishing touches, finalizing few little things. Basically, we are finally going to relax and have champagne party all weekend long...
